Serena Williams is a known legend in the tennis field along with her sister, Venus Williams. Aside from tennis she is also a mother to her daughter Olympia who turned five this month. Serena recently opened up to Vogue about her thoughts on retirement. Williams officially announced her departure from tennis on Aug 9th, 2022.

The tennis player has accomplished a lot in her career. Winning 23 Grand Slam titles and being the only person to do so during that time. Serena first graced tennis with her presence at 17 years old. Though she had been practicing with her dad and sister in local tennis courts before.

Williams grew up in Compton with her dad, mom, and four other siblings. Before playing professionally and winning titles, she used to play at tennis academy where she gained recognition. In the beginning her and her older sister, Venus would pair up and play against other players. From those matches they won over 14 titles. But this wouldn't be the last time she wins an award. During the 2000 Olympics, her and her sister Venus Williams won gold in doubles matches. Though she teamed up with her sister, Williams later played single matches sometimes even against her sister. Serena made her single premiere in 1998

In the interview with Vogue she opens up about how she knew it was time to leave tennis. The thought brought sadness, but she knew she had other things to attend to. One of them being her daughter. Olympia started recently asking for a sibling and with the conflictive tennis schedule she couldn't provide that to her. Williams always found it hard to even make a decision between tennis and her family. Outside of sports Serena has made many different moves business wise. She has done Masterclass; Impossible Foods and she is a part time owner of the Miami Dolphins. But that's just to name a few, the tennis player has ventured into her own lane with her own brand, Serena ventures.

Serena admits that the transition from the sport is going to be hard. She realizes that she deserves it and that it will benefit her in the long run. Serena has left an immense impact on society and the tennis community. Williams will always be known for her success and the world is waiting to see what she's going to do next.
